REST API with an application password

Automated SEO articles for WordPress

Connect once with an application password, and AutomatedSEO publishes finished posts to your WordPress site on schedule, with categories, featured images and internal links in place.

Connect in three steps

  1. 1

In WordPress, go to Users, open your profile and create an application password.

  2. 2

In AutomatedSEO, open Integrations, choose WordPress and enter your site URL, username and the application password.

  3. 3

Pick the category and author new posts should use, and whether they publish or wait as drafts.

What gets published

  • The post body with its headings, lists and tables.
  • Title, slug and excerpt.
  • Featured image, uploaded to your media library.
  • Category and tags.
  • Internal links to your existing posts and pages.

Works alongside your SEO plugin

If you run Yoast SEO or Rank Math, keep it. AutomatedSEO writes the title and meta description for each post; your plugin continues to handle your sitemap and site-wide schema. Check that your plugin and AutomatedSEO aren't both outputting Article schema on the same post.

Hosted WordPress and security plugins

Application passwords are built into WordPress 5.6 and later. Some security plugins and hosts disable the REST API or application passwords; if the connection fails, allow them for the user AutomatedSEO publishes as.
